A pedestrian wave-shaped bridge, which connects the Obolonskyi Island with the Obolon Embankment and Natalka Park, was opened in Kyiv, Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko reported.
Zones for recreation, sports and psychological recovery have been set up on the island. There is also a playground, a beach and a cycling path.
"The structures for the bridge were made at the Azovstal enterprise. They were brought to Kyiv just a few weeks before the start of the full-scale war," Klitschko noted.
The bridge itself was built at the expense of Ukrainian and foreign patrons.
According to the city mayor, the main lighting on the bridge will not be turned on, but there will be LED lighting of the bridge handrails.
"The construction of the facility began in 2021. At the beginning of the full-scale war, it was suspended. And it was resumed in the spring of last year. At the same time, the construction of the recreation area began," Klitschko added.
