The events of the film "Steve" unfold in the mid-1990s. The film is a new reimagining of Max Porter's bestseller "Shay," which became a Sunday Times hit. The story centers on one crucial day in the life of Steve (Oscar-winner Cillian Murphy), the headmaster of a school for troubled teenagers. He tries to save the institution, which is threatened with closure, while simultaneously battling his own psychological struggles. Parallel to this, the viewer gets acquainted with Shay – a teenager who balances between the burden of the past and an uncertain future. His journey is a painful attempt to reconcile the vulnerability of his inner world with a destructive urge towards aggression and self-destruction.
