The cost of creating GTA VI exceeded the budget for the construction of the tallest skyscraper in the world – the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, report Luxuriousbymm and Businessbulls.

According to insiders , the development of GTA VI over 13 years cost almost $2 billion – almost eight times the budget of GTA V. For comparison, the construction of the 828-meter Burj Khalifa took six years and cost $1.5 billion. Thus, Rockstar Games set a new record for expenses in the history of video games.

GTA VI promises to be the most detailed game ever: the developers are creating a massive map with a fictional analogue of Miami and its surroundings, improved characters and a record amount of detail. A significant part of the budget was spent on "hyper-realistic graphics" and licensing hundreds of songs.

Analysts predict that the costs of developing GTA VI will quickly pay off, as the previous part of the game brought the company over $7.7 billion in ten years. The release of GTA VI is expected to become the largest cultural event of the decade in the world of video games.
