Ukraine that cares: why animal evacuation is our common cause

The war made us all witness stories of loss, danger and evacuation. We are used to thinking about the safety of people first and foremost. But there are those next to us who cannot ask for help – pets and stray animals. They cannot explain that they are afraid or find a safe place on their own, so they remain in frontline villages and towns under fire and need our support.
Left to their own devices, animals often die of hunger, thirst, or injuries. Pets are especially vulnerable because they are used to human care and cannot find food or a safe place on their own, and thus cannot survive. By evacuating them, we not only save lives, but also prevent the emergence of new stray animals, which in turn can cause humanitarian and environmental problems.
