Taiwan gives $2.5m for Kyiv bridge construction

The Taiwanese government has allocated USD 2.5 million for the construction of a so-called ‘wave bridge’ in the Obolon district in Kyiv, the ministry of foreign affairs of Taiwan said in a statement.

"A joint effort by Taiwan, France, and other countries to support Ukraine’s reconstruction underscores the significance of solidarity and cooperation within the democratic community during the Russia-Ukraine war," the statement read.

"It also highlights the deep sense of friendship and empathy the democratic community holds for the Ukrainian people."

Earlier, the Greater Paris Metropolitan Region of France also contributed USD 1 million to the bridge construction project.

"Those are earmarked funds that foreign partners have allocated directly for the construction of this facility," Kateryna Baranova, head of the Kyiv city state administration's press service, said at the time.
