Masculinity is no longer about strength. It is about freedom
- The last few years have seen a real evolution of the concept of masculinity. <#comment>pagebreak paywall Men's fashion is no longer about strength and restraint – it's about the freedom to be yourself.
Today, masculinity is not a set of characteristics, but a state of inner confidence. Lace, pearls, or pastel colors can appear in men's wardrobes alongside classic suits, and this is no longer shocking. On the contrary, it speaks of individuality and inner confidence: "I can be gentle and masculine at the same time," says Halyna Denysiuk.

Masculinity in fashion is becoming more diverse and inclusive, opening up new opportunities for men's self-expression:
Blurring traditional gender boundaries: Modern fashion is increasingly moving away from traditional ideas of what men's clothing should be. Men can wear colorful, bright and extravagant outfits that were previously considered "feminine".

- The Impact of Feminism: Feminist movements have influenced the understanding of masculinity. Men can now show emotion and tenderness, which was previously considered a weakness. This is also reflected in the choice of clothing, where the emphasis is on comfort and individuality.
- Sustainability and ethical fashion: Men's fashion is also starting to take environmental aspects into account. Brands are increasingly offering sustainable fashion, which includes the use of environmentally friendly materials and ethical production practices.
- Popularization of informal style: Casual style is becoming increasingly popular among men, reflecting a shift in lifestyles and work environments. It also contributes to greater freedom in clothing choices.
- Impact of social media: Platforms such as Instagram and TikTok have become important for shaping new trends and styles where men can experiment with looks and share them with their audience.
- Growing popularity of gender-neutral fashion: Brands are increasingly offering collections that do not separate clothing into men's and women's, allowing everyone to choose what they like, regardless of gender.
Why men are increasingly wearing "women's" things

"Fashion is a language, and men are finally starting to speak it," the stylist notes.
According to Galina Denisyuk, today men no longer want to limit themselves to the rules of "what is allowed." Skirts, jewelry, pink – it's not about gender, it's about aesthetics and self-expression.
Men's experiments with "feminine" wardrobe elements can be caused by several factors:
- Changing social norms: Modern society is becoming more open to diversity in self-expression. Men are increasingly abandoning traditional gender stereotypes, which allows them to experiment with fashion.
- Fashion as a form of self-expression: Fashion has become a tool for expressing individuality. Men who wear skirts or bright colors can emphasize their uniqueness and creativity in this way.
- Influence of culture and media: Celebrities, artists, and influencers often break traditional fashion norms. Their example can inspire men to experiment.
- Psychological aspect: Studies show that clothing can affect mood and self-esteem. Men may wear "feminine" elements to feel more comfortable or confident.
- Increased interest in gender equality: Many men support the ideas of feminism and gender equality, so they may seek to break down barriers between traditional male and female roles.
What it means to be a stylish man today

- We no longer live in a time when a "stylish man" meant only a strict suit or a perfectly ironed shirt. Today, individuality is in fashion. A modern man can wear wide trousers, shiny accessories, play with textures, mix street fashion elements with classics. The main thing is to be honest with yourself.
You can be stylish in total black, or you can be stylish in a floral shirt.
That is, style is not a set of rules, but a mirror of character," emphasizes stylist Galina Denisyuk.

Key aspects of modern men's style:
- Blurring Gender Boundaries: Men are increasingly experimenting with clothes that are traditionally considered "feminine". It can be skirts, dresses, bright colors, prints and unusual accessories. This kind of self-expression is becoming the norm for many.

- Cultural Influence: Music, art and social media have a significant impact on men's style. Celebrities and bloggers set trends that spread quickly among young people.
How celebrities influence the change in perceptions of masculinity
According to the stylist, celebrities have a huge impact on changing perceptions of masculinity through their images, style, and public image. They show that style has no gender, and masculinity is not necessarily about strength and closeness.

- For example, Harry Styles in a dress on the cover of Vogue is a historic moment. Timothée Chalamet is an example of elegance without pathos. BTS is a phenomenon in general: they combine tenderness and strength, style and depth, and millions of guys around the world look at them and see them: "I can be different too". Such examples are important because they open up new horizons and give you permission to be yourself," says Halyna Denysiuk.

Harry Styles, Timothy Chalamet, BTS and other style icons demonstrate a new model of masculinity – from appearance to behavior:
- Free style.Men in pink, skirts and sequins are no longer a challenge, but a fashionable norm. Stars are blurring the lines between "female" and "male" in their wardrobes.
- Emotionality is not a weakness.Vulnerability and sincerity in public statements help to destroy the myth of the "strong silent one".
- Fashion as an influence.Millions follow their style: the look becomes a way of self-expression and self-acceptance.
- The power of social media.Instagram and TikTok broadcast new images of masculinity in real time, scaling up change.
- Inclusivity. The diverse backgrounds, cultures, and orientations of the stars emphasize that there is no single formula for a "real man."
- Social activism. They talk about LGBTQ+, feminism and climate, proving that a man can be not only stylish but also conscious.

Which brands are contributing to the breakdown of gender boundaries in fashion?
- Gucci, Thom Browne, JW Anderson, Rick Owens, Balenciaga – these brands work boldly with shapes, colors, and symbols. They are not afraid to provoke and thus move fashion forward. Young brands like Palomo Spain or Art School also work very powerfully with the themes of androgyny, fluidity, and freedom. And most importantly, it's no longer a hype, it's become part of a real, live dialog in the fashion world," explains the stylist.

According to Galyna Denysiuk, today there are several brands that actively contribute to the destruction of gender boundaries in fashion, offering universal style and design approaches that do not obey traditional gender stereotypes. Here are some of them:
- Gucci:Under the leadership of Alessandro Michele, the brand has become known for its outrageous style, which often blurs the lines between men's and women's clothing. Gucci offers collections that incorporate elements typically considered "feminine" into men's lines.

- "These brands not only offer new styles, but also contribute to changes in the public perception of gender in fashion, encouraging consumers to express themselves freely through clothing regardless of traditional gender norms," the stylist added.
Do men in Ukraine face judgment when they choose non-standard clothing?

Halyna Denysiuk noted that in Ukraine, as in many other countries, men can face judgment or misunderstanding when they choose clothing that goes beyond traditional gender norms. This often manifests itself through criticism or negative comments, especially in smaller towns or conservative circles.
-Despite the strong influence of cultural stereotypes, the situation is changing. With the development of fashion and the popularization of gender neutrality, the younger generation is increasingly supporting non-standard styles, which reduces stigma.
Although men in Ukraine may still face difficulties because of the choice of bright colors or unusual silhouettes, society is becoming more open and tolerant of various forms of self-expression," the stylist added.
Where to start if you want to change your style but are scared?

-Start small. Put on something new, such as bright socks, a non-standard bag, chain or earring. If you feel comfortable, then you can add loose silhouettes, other colors, textures. It is worth reconsidering the usual things – perhaps a plain shirt can be worn open or under a glittery sweater.
Don't be afraid of fitting rooms – they are designed for experimentation. And most importantly, listen to yourself.
You don't have to wear a dress to be modern. But if you want to, why not?" says Halyna Denysiuk.
P advice and for a man who wants to take the first steps:
- Research and inspiration: Start by researching fashion trends, styles, and images that inspire you. Use social media such as Instagram or Pinterest to find interesting images. Pay attention to the styles you like and make a note of what appeals to you.
- Gradual Implementation: Don't try to change your entire wardrobe at once. Start with one or two items that you like. These can be bright shirts, unusual accessories or shoes.
- Combinations with basic items: Add non-standard items to your existing wardrobe. For example, a bright shirt can go well with classic jeans or pants. This will allow you to stay comfortable and confident in your style.
- Accessories: Accessories are a great way to add personality without making big changes to your wardrobe. Try a variety of scarves, hats, watches or jewelry that can accentuate your style.
- Choosing colors and prints: Don't be afraid to experiment with colors and prints. Bright colors or original patterns can add character to your look.
- Openness to new shapes: Try different silhouettes and cuts. For example, wide pants or oversized shirts can look stylish and modern.
- Trying on and experimenting: Don't be afraid to try on things you don't normally wear. Visit stores with different styles to see what works for you.
- Support from friends: You may have friends or family members who have similar interests in fashion. Going shopping together or discussing style can be helpful and inspiring.
- Comfort and confidence: The most important thing is to feel comfortable in what you wear. If you are not confident in your choices, it can affect how you feel. Choose things that you feel comfortable in and that emphasize your personality.
- Don't be afraid to make mistakes: Fashion is an experiment, and not all attempts can be successful. It is important to learn from your mistakes and keep looking for your style.
For many men, the first steps in experimenting with style are a challenge. But every step is a movement towards the real you. Towards a style in which you feel comfortable. And in which you can be different: strong and gentle, restrained and bright.
